10/31/2006 Viking - Sworn BrotherThe breathtaking second volume in the Viking trilogy - an epic historical adventure in a world full of Norse mythology and muderous feuds.
London, 1019: a few months have passed since Thorgils escaped the clutches of the Irish Church only to find himself involved in a capricious love affiar with Aelfgifu, wife of Knut the Great, ruler of England, and one of the most powerful men in the Viking world. A passionate relationship between two unlikely lovers begins to unfold, which forebodes uncontrollable consequences...
Forces to flee the realm, Thorgils teams up with Grettir, and an outlaw feared for his volatile and brooding behaviour. Thw two men become travelling companions and swron brothers - which binds them together beyond death.
From the frozen regions of the land of the Ski Runners, who trade in furs, and along the great river leading to Miklagard, the queen of cities, Thorgils must use hit wits to survive among counterfeiters who forge the royal coinage, bounty hunters and slave traders. Finally, in Constantinople, he witnesses the ultimate revenge...
Sworn Brother continues an utterly compelling journey back in time to a world that is brimming with wonderfully crafted characters and their insatiable hunger for riches and renown.
OK OK, don't get mean, it's just an introduction to the book, or you can consider it as a recommendation
an amazing fiction mixed with culture, mythology, religion and something like that.. what a pity i haven't bought all three of the trilogy in Cambridge - -
Read this 380 pages novel over in 10 days while getting almost most of it..perhaps except for some details.. much sooner than i had expected...and absolutely much easier than I had expected
seems like i had underestimated my reading ability, loool
perhaps i can go and buy some other english fictions to read...at least it's much more intereting than reading and reciting the vocabulary list, no harder either... still it helps memorizing words too
ok, enough for that
i'll be here for introduction or recommendation as soon as i finish another one
